This tutorial covers organizational identifiers assigned by the IEEE Registration Authority (IEEE RA) and extended identifiers based on them. It covers identifier formats, assignment, guidelines, and policies relevant to assignees as well as to standards developers. The tutorial includes information relevant to organizational identifiers, such as Organizationally Unique Identifier (OUI) and Company ID (CID), and to extended identifiers such as the Extended Unique Identifier (EUI) and Extended Local Identifier (ELI). Status and History This tutorial supersedes the following three IEEE RA tutorial documents: Guidelines for Use Organizationally Unique Identifier (OUI) and Company ID (CID) Guidelines for 48-Bit Global Identifier (EUI-48) Guidelines for 64-bit Global Identifier (EUI-64)
